So, I’ve been working on a project that called for emulating that older 90s analog VHS look. Usually, I’d just quickly download some overlays and slap some plugin over the footage and call it a day. But thee ole ADD and OCD grabbed hold and I dove head first into WHAT and HOW VHS tape actually works and based my workflow around that. 

Below is a template file I created based on all that. Of course, I created a 5 part series of tutorials so you can follow along.

Now, this isn’t 1 for 1 look of VHS. VHS is very unpredictable and there are a lot of factors that are at play. The Tape. The Camera. The Weather. The Age. The VCR or playback device. The Capture format, and so many other things.
